The Lowdown
The Auffahrtslauf St. Gallen is Eastern Switzerland's largest running event, held every year on Ascension Day in St. Gallen. Starting and finishing at Stadium St. Gallen, the flagship half marathon covers 21.1 km with 319 m of elevation gain, passing the Gübsensee recreation area, the city center's Roter Platz and old town, and the scenic Sittertobel gorge before returning to the stadium. The event also offers a 10K, 6K, 3.5K, walking and Nordic walking, couples and team categories, plus children's and family runs. The 2026 edition drew a record field of more than 10,000 runners and 25,000 spectators. Entry includes a welcome bag, race shirt, free regional train travel, and a finisher drink.
