Ávila Monumental Half Marathon
The Lowdown
The Ávila Monumental Half Marathon (raced this edition as the Hyundai Cerverauto Half Marathon under title sponsorship, following several sponsor changes in past years) is an RFEA-homologated 21.1K point-to-point race through Ávila, Spain's highest provincial capital at over 1,100 meters. The course starts at the Cuatro Postes lookout, with panoramic views over the Sierra de Gredos and the medieval walled old town — Europe's best-preserved city walls and a UNESCO World Heritage Site — then winds through Ávila's historic streets past the Hermitage of San Segundo, the Basilica of San Vicente, the Monastery of San José, and Ávila Cathedral before finishing at the Lienzo Norte Municipal Congress and Exhibition Center. The event also includes a 10K and a two-runner half marathon relay held the same morning, each November.
