Media Maratón de Vigo
The Lowdown
The Media Maratón de Vigo, known locally as LA21, is the largest half marathon in Galicia, run each November through the Atlantic port city of Vigo in northwestern Spain. The RFEA-certified 21.097 km course starts at O Vao beach near the Coruxo football field, passes through Samil and Alcabre, crosses the Beiramar tunnels (closed to traffic for this one day each year), and finishes at As Avenidas beside the Real Club Náutico de Vigo. A companion 10K, 'Los 10.000 de Alejandro Gómez,' starts an hour later from Samil beach and shares the same finish, adding 700 bibs to the half marathon's 1,300 for a combined field of about 2,000 runners. The race is organized by DIESEMM together with the Concello de Vigo, the Deputación de Pontevedra and Turismo Rías Baixas, and has carried sponsor names such as Suevia and Banco Santander in recent editions, though the event itself keeps a neutral identity. The 2026 running is the 28th edition, held Sunday, November 15, with the 21K starting at 10:00 and the 10K at 11:00. Online registration is open now through magmasports.es, with tiered pricing that rises in steps as race day approaches.

The 2026 edition is the 28th running of LA21 Media Maratón de Vigo.
Recent editions have carried sponsor branding (Suevia in 2025, Banco Santander in earlier years) alongside the LA21 name; the race identity itself has stayed constant.
A separate event, the Media Maratón Gran Bahía Vig-Bay (linking Vigo and Baiona along the coast, held each April), is a different race from this one.
