Carrera Tierra del Calzado is an annual road race in San Mateo Atenco, a shoemaking town in the Estado de México, organized by the municipal sports institute (IMCUFIDE) and the town government. It offers a 5K and a 10K that start and finish in front of the Palacio Municipal and stay within the town's historic center. Runner check-in opens at 7:00 a.m. and the start is at 8:00 a.m. The 10K is divided by sex into Juvenil (14 to 19), Libre (20 to 39), Máster (40 to 49) and Veteranos (50 and over) categories, while the 5K has a single category per sex. The top three finishers in each category win cash prizes of 1,000 to 4,000 pesos. The 250-peso entry includes a participant kit and hydration, and registration is in person at three municipal offices.
