City Marathon Wiesbaden
The Lowdown
City Marathon Wiesbaden is an annual road race through the Hessian state capital, first held in 2022 as an evolution of the long-running Wiesbaden Mittsommerlauf (Midsummer Run). Organized by Sporthilfe Wiesbaden e.V. and produced by WEC GmbH, the event has run every June since its debut, growing from roughly 2,200 participants at its 2022 launch to an expected 5,000 across all distances at the 2026 edition, its fifth. The marathon and half marathon share a loop course through central Wiesbaden -- six laps for the full distance, three for the half -- passing the Kurhaus, the Hessian State Theatre, and the villa-lined streets around Nerotal and Taunusstrasse, on a route organizers describe as largely flat. A 10 km, 5 km, and 3 km run (plus a free children's race for school classes) round out the program, alongside a marathon relay. Since its first edition the race has carried title sponsorship from the Swedish lender Ikano Bank; it is recorded here under the stable, sponsor-neutral 'City Marathon Wiesbaden' name used on the event's own homepage. The 2027 date and fee schedule have not yet been published, so the date below is projected from the race's historical late-June, Saturday-evening cadence (the 2026 edition was moved earlier, to June 20, as a one-off adjustment around the 2026 FIFA World Cup and nearby construction).
