First State Half Marathon & 10K

The First State Half Marathon and 10K take place in Newark, Delaware, following town streets, neighborhoods and paved trails. Both events start near Orchard Road at 8 a.m. Packet pickup takes place at Deer Park Tavern from 7 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. , with a celebration at the tavern from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The half marathon course is identified with USATF certification DE22001JLW. The event offers water stations, portable toilets and a gear check using the supplied grocery-size bags. The course cutoff is 3.5 hours; anyone passed by the sweeper must move to the sidewalk when police and volunteers finish their shifts. The organizer allows bib transfers at no additional cost, but does not offer refunds or deferrals. A University of Delaware parking garage and municipal lots are available nearby.
