Flensburg liebt dich Marathon
The Lowdown
The Flensburg liebt dich Marathon ("Flensburg loves you") is northern Germany's community running festival on the Flensburg Fjord, organized by SV Freie Waldorfschule Flensburg e.V. and held annually on a Sunday in early September; the 2026 edition marks its eighth year. All seven races -- Marathon, Halbmarathon, a Staffelmarathon relay for teams of two to seven, 10K, 5K, and two children's fun runs -- start and finish at Suedermarkt in the historic city center, with bib pickup and the post-race sports expo at Flensburg Galerie on Holm. The DLV/Leichtathletik-Verband Schleswig-Holstein-certified course is a flat, asphalted 10.55 km loop along Flensburg's harbor and fjord, run four times for the marathon, twice for the half, and once for the 10K and 5K. Pacers guide marathon finishers from 3:00 to 5:00 and half marathon finishers from 1:30 to 2:30, in 15-minute increments. Aid stations appear roughly every 1.5 km, with full refreshment points (water, fruit, isotonic drink, energy gel, pretzels, and cola) about every 3.5 km. Every finisher receives a medal, with optional on-site laser engraving in the Flensburg Galerie.
