The Lowdown

The Grand Prix Winterthur is Winterthur's flagship city road race, held every spring through the city center and surrounding parks and former industrial districts of Switzerland's sixth-largest city, in the canton of Zurich. Launched in 2025 as the rebranded successor to the long-running Winterthur Marathon, the event offers a half marathon, 10K, and 5K, plus free youth and kids/family fun runs. All three main courses share a start and finish at the Reithalle running center and include the New Balance Hill Challenge, a timed climb with its own mountain-prize competition. The 2026 edition drew a record field of nearly 4,000 runners. Entry fees are tiered by quota, rising as each price bracket sells out, and sponsors include Migros, New Balance, SWICA, and Valiant.

On-site registration morning of race, subject to availability, extra charge within 1.5 hours of start
Eligibility: Half marathon: minimum age 16
10K: minimum age 14
5K: minimum age 12
Youth Run: ages 12-14
Kids/Family Run: born 2013 or later
Required Documents: Government-issued photo ID for on-site bib collection
Cancellation & Refund Policy: No refund for non-starters due to illness without optional cancellation insurance
Cancellation insurance covers illness/accident with medical certificate
No refund entitlement if the race is cancelled or only partially held due to force majeure
Duplicate registrations receive free entry the following year instead of a refund
