Irish Life Fingal 10K
The Lowdown
The Irish Life Fingal 10K is the opening leg of the Irish Life Dublin Race Series, run each July through Swords, the county town of Fingal in north County Dublin. Introduced in 2012 to expand the series beyond Phoenix Park, it has grown into one of the most popular 10Ks in Leinster, with recent editions selling out well ahead of race day. The 2026 running on 12 July drew thousands of entrants and sold out, with local Raheny Shamrock A.C. runners topping the men's podium. The race starts and finishes on the Balheary Road just outside Swords Village, sending runners over wide main roads and longer, straighter sections that stay largely flat with only gentle rolls. Pacers lead groups targeting 45, 50, 55 and 60 minute finishes, and the course threads past Fingal landmarks including Swords Castle and the Ward River Valley Park before looping back through Balheary Park to the finish. Every finisher receives a race t-shirt, a goodie bag and a chip-timed result, and the event runs on the same closed-road infrastructure Dublin uses for its bigger races, with free and paid parking available near the Pavilions Swords shopping centre. The Fingal 10K sets up the rest of the series: the Frank Duffy 10 Mile in Phoenix Park follows in mid-August, and the Irish Life Dublin Marathon closes the series in late October. The date below is projected forward from the race's consistent second-Sunday-of-July slot (14 July 2024, 13 July 2025, 12 July 2026); check the official site closer to the date for the confirmed 2027 schedule and entry opening.
