Leicester Half Marathon
The Lowdown
The Leicester Half Marathon is the flagship event of the Run Leicester Festival, held each October in the East Midlands city of Leicester, England. Runners tackle both a half marathon and a 10K on the same morning, starting and finishing in leafy Victoria Park before winding through Leicester's city centre streets and green spaces, including a loop out toward Birstall and back along the historic New Walk. The course is largely flat, with one short climb near the 8-mile mark in Birstall and a final rise up New Walk to the finish. All proceeds support LOROS Hospice, the event's official charity partner, giving the race a strong community feel alongside its competitive fields. Aid stations line the route roughly every 3 miles on the half marathon and once near the 6km mark on the 10K, with a finishers medal, bananas, water and snacks waiting at Victoria Park. Free park and ride service from King Power Stadium and on-site bag drop make race-day logistics straightforward for local and visiting runners alike.
