Marabana - Havana Marathon
The Lowdown
Marabana, the Havana Marathon, is Cuba's flagship road race and one of the oldest running events in Latin America, founded in 1987. The 2026 edition marks its 40th running on Sunday, November 15. The course starts and finishes on Avenida Independencia near Plaza de la Revolucion, taking runners on a two-loop route through central Havana past landmarks including the Malecon seafront, the Capitolio, and the Plaza de la Revolucion itself. The race is organized by RPM Racing (Barcelona) in partnership with Cuban athletics authorities and draws a mix of Cuban club runners and international travelers, many of whom combine the race with a Cuba travel package. Alongside the marathon, the event offers a half marathon, 10K, and 5K, with adapted categories for runners with disabilities. Because of Havana's tropical climate, race day starts at dawn to beat the heat, and mid-November falls in Cuba's mild dry season with warm, humid conditions.
