Maratón Capital (Capital Maratón) is held in Guanajuato Capital, the historic colonial city in the highlands of Guanajuato, Mexico, with its start and finish at the central Plaza de la Paz. The event has grown over consecutive editions into a popular winter race on the Mexican calendar, offering 42K marathon, 21K half marathon, and 10K distances. Runners take on the demanding, scenic terrain of one of Mexico's most picturesque cities, winding past landmarks such as the Basílica Colegiata, the Teatro Juárez, and the iconic callejones and plazas of the Centro Histórico. The III Edición was held on Sunday, February 15, 2026, starting at 06:00, with a participant cap of 3,500 and a prize purse for top finishers. The IV Edición is expected around February 2027, though the organizers had not published an official date as of August 2026. Organized through the Marcate registration platform, the race emphasizes a festive city-center atmosphere and a challenging course through Guanajuato's hilly, cobblestoned colonial core.
