Maratón de Santo Domingo
The Lowdown
The Maratón de Santo Domingo is the flagship marathon of the Dominican Republic, organized by Santo Domingo Corre with support from the National District City Hall. Now in its 9th edition, the race starts and finishes at Centro de los Héroes on Avenida Jiménez Moya and draws over 4,000 national and international runners across four staggered distances (42K, 21K, 10K, 5K). The course is AIMS/IAAF certified, and the marathon carries Abbott World Marathon Majors qualifying-points status. Runners cross through central Santo Domingo, including areas near the Malecón and government district, in warm tropical pre-dawn conditions typical of the Caribbean in October.
