Maratón El Salvador

Maratón El Salvador is the country's principal road marathon, staged in the San Salvador metropolitan area in mid-February. The event is organized by Maratón El Salvador, which brands itself as the leading sports-event organization in the country, and offers a full marathon (42K) alongside half-marathon (21K) and 10K routes. Recent editions have been held in February (the 2026 edition took place on 15 February 2026; the 2024 edition ran on 25 February 2024 in the Nueva San Salvador / Santa Tecla area of the metropolitan zone), and the race draws runners from El Salvador, the wider Central American region, and international visitors. El Salvador uses the US dollar as its official currency, so registration is quoted and paid in USD. Because the course starts in the tropics, the event uses an early-morning start to avoid midday heat.
