The Lowdown

The Maratonina Città di Arezzo is an annual half marathon through the medieval streets of Arezzo, Tuscany, staged by U.P. Policiano Arezzo Atletica with FIDAL, the City of Arezzo, the Province of Arezzo, and the Tuscany Region. The 2026 edition is the 27th running, held on the last Sunday of October and carrying the tagline "Il Cuore in Corsa" (The Heart Running). Runners gather at 8:00 a.m. in Piazza Guido Monaco, the city's historic hub, for a 9:30 a.m. start on a World Athletics Type A-certified, two-lap 21.097 km course that loops through Arezzo's old town before finishing back at Piazza Guido Monaco. Alongside the competitive half marathon, the event offers a competitive 10.6 km race and a non-competitive 3.5 km fun run, and it doubles as the Italian Doctors' Championship and the Italian Bankers & Insurance Championship half marathon. Prize money of up to €5,000 is awarded by finishing time, and the first 1,000 finishers in the 21 km and 10.6 km races receive a hoodie and medal. Online registration runs through www.icron.it, with fees increasing in tiers as the race date approaches; the non-competitive 3.5 km entry is a flat €10.
