Terni Half Marathon
The Lowdown
The Terni Half Marathon is Umbria's fastest half marathon, held on a Sunday in January each year in the Umbrian city of Terni -- the 2027 edition is projected for January 10, following the event's established second-Sunday-of-January pattern (the 2025 and 2026 editions both fell on that Sunday). Organized by #iloverun Athletic Terni with Fondazione Carit, and locally known as the Braconi Terni Half Marathon after longtime sponsor Studio di Radiologia Braconi, the race runs a flat city-center loop starting and finishing on Via Leopardi: a 10.433 km circuit run twice, plus a 231-meter closing straight, for the official 21.097 km distance. The course is FIDAL-certified and homologated by World Athletics, with few direction changes that make it a favorite for runners chasing a personal best. A shorter, non-competitive Metà Mezza (10.660 km) runs alongside the main race. The 2026 edition drew over 600 finishers from as far afield as Kenya, Ukraine, Japan and Argentina, and one euro from every entry goes to Rotary International's Polio Plus program. This is a separate event from Terni's February race, the Maratona di San Valentino, which is organized by a different club on a different point-to-point course.
