Media Maratón de Cáceres
The Lowdown
The Media Maratón de Cáceres sends runners through the floodlit streets of Cáceres' Ciudad Monumental, a UNESCO World Heritage old town of medieval towers and Renaissance palaces. Both the half marathon and a companion 10.5K popular race start and finish at Plaza Mayor, looping past landmarks like the Concatedral de Santa María and the Arco de la Estrella on closed asphalt and cobblestone streets. Organized by the Cáceres City Council's Municipal Sports Institute with Pulsaciones.net and homologated by the Extremadura Athletics Federation, the race has grown steadily since its debut, with the 2026 edition selling out at a record 1,800 registered runners. The 7:00 PM start turns the historic center into a nighttime running festival, with children's races earlier in the evening, aid stations along the course, and a finisher tee for every runner who crosses the line under the walls of the old city.
