The Lowdown

The Media Maratón de Santander is an annual half marathon, run alongside 10K and 5K companion races, in Santander, the capital of Cantabria on Spain's northern coast. All three distances start and finish on the Paseo de Pereda, the city's waterfront promenade overlooking the Bahía de Santander, and loop along the maritime facade past Calvo Sotelo and Jesús de Monasterio, where runners make a 180-degree turnaround, continuing via Castelar, Gamazo and Severiano Ballesteros Avenue. Organized through GedSports, the race capped its 2026 edition -- the 14th running, held May 10, 2026 -- at 1,500 half-marathon bibs with a 2-hour-15-minute time limit. The event has run every May since the early 2010s, most recently on the first or second Sunday of the month, and the next edition is projected for early May 2027; the organizers have not yet published the exact date or registration details.
