Media Maratón Palos de la Frontera

The Media Maratón Palos de la Frontera is a small-town half marathon held each October in Palos de la Frontera, a coastal municipality in Huelva province, Andalusia, best known as the port from which Christopher Columbus's Niña and Pinta sailed in 1492. Organized by the Ayuntamiento de Palos de la Frontera (the town council) through its Sports Department, the race reached its 27th edition in 2026, currently sponsored by the energy company MOEVE.

The 21.1 km urban course starts and finishes at Plaza Pilar Pulgar, next to the town's bullring and fairground, and covers two laps past local landmarks including Calle Rábida, Calle Colón, Avenida Plus Ultra, the Muelle de las Carabelas (Caravels' Wharf) and the Foro Iberoamericano before returning to the start. Hydration stations line the route roughly every five kilometers, and runners have a 2 hour 15 minute time limit to finish.

Entry costs just €3 and is capped at 300 runners, with online registration through Gesconchip open from May 15 through October 15, 2026, or until bibs sell out. All finishers receive a technical t-shirt, medal, fruit, a sandwich, and water, and prizes go to the top three men and women overall, by age category, among local Palos de la Frontera residents, by team, and among MOEVE employees.
