The Lowdown

The Media Maratón y 10K Ciudad de Cartagena is an annual road race through the port city of Cartagena in the Region of Murcia, southeastern Spain, organized by the Ayuntamiento de Cartagena's Concejalía de Deportes together with Club Deportivo Triatlón Santa Ana Mandarache. The certified 21.097 km half marathon and the 10K share a start and finish at the Palacio de los Deportes, tracing wide avenues, the historic center and the harbor front past emblematic sites of the city. The event is homologated by the Real Federación Española de Atletismo and the Región de Murcia athletics federation, carries a memorial dedication to Gregorio Lorente Rosas, and pairs the two adult distances with a full slate of children's races from SUB8 through SUB18. The 33rd edition, held March 1, 2026, drew a record turnout of nearly 3,000 participants across both distances, with 2026-cycle entry fees of EUR 18 (half marathon) and EUR 16 (10K) for early registration, rising to EUR 22 and EUR 20 near race day. The race has run every year on the first Sunday of March; the next edition, the 34th, is projected for Sunday, March 7, 2027, with the registration window and fees for 2027 not yet announced through the official race website.
