Medio Maratón de la Plata

The Medio Maratón de la Plata is Pachuca's annual half marathon, run through the historic center of the Hidalgo state capital at roughly 2,400 meters (7,900 feet) of altitude. Its name nods to Pachuca's centuries-old identity as a silver-mining hub — the Pachuca-Real del Monte mining district, now a Pueblo Mágico and a UNESCO Global Geopark, has produced silver since Spanish colonial times and helped earn the city its nickname 'La Bella Airosa.' Race producer Terraksports stages the event, with registration and promotion handled through the asdeporte.com platform; the most recent edition, held Sunday, May 31, 2026, sold out its field of roughly 1,500 runners, who traveled from as far as Puebla, Tlaxcala, Mexico City, Querétaro, the State of Mexico, and Michoacán. All three distances — 21K, 10K, and 5K — start and finish at the Reloj Monumental de Pachuca, in Plaza Independencia; only the 21K awards cash prizes, to the top three men and women overall, while the 10K, 5K, and 21K age-group categories race for podium places only. City authorities close streets across central Pachuca from 5:30 to 9:15 a.m. on race morning. Registration for the next edition has not opened yet; based on the event's annual, late-May timing, the following edition is projected for late May 2027.
