Medio Maratón Farrera

The Medio Maratón Farrera is an annual half marathon and 10K held each August in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, the capital of Chiapas, Mexico. Named for Grupo Farrera, the local business marking its 90th anniversary at the 2025 running, the race has grown since its debut edition into one of southern Mexico's most competitive road events, selling out its 2026 fifth edition ahead of the entry deadline. Both distances start and finish at Parque Central in the heart of downtown Tuxtla Gutiérrez, following a flat urban loop along Boulevard Belisario Domínguez and Avenida Ciro Farrera before turning back through the city center. The half marathon fields Open, Masters (40-49), and Veterans (50+) divisions for men and women, while the 10K adds an Open division alongside a Special Abilities category for para-athletes. Organizers distribute more than $100,000 MXN in cash prizes across the categories. Race morning in Tuxtla Gutiérrez is warm and humid, typical of Chiapas in the rainy season, so runners start early, around 6:00 a.m., to beat the heat. Entrants receive a race shirt, timing chip, and finisher medal, with hydration stations, medical support, and a post-race recovery area along the course.
