Medio Maratón Mexiquense

Medio Maratón Mexiquense is Toluca's long-running half marathon, staged around the Plaza de los Mártires in the historic center of Toluca, the high-altitude capital of the State of Mexico. Organized by a private organizing committee working with the Asdeporte registration platform, the race dates back to at least the early 2010s — a 2016 news report on the event's fifth edition confirms multiple prior years — and offers three distances on the same morning: 5K, 10K, and the half marathon (21K), all starting and finishing at Plaza de los Mártires at 6:00 a.m. The 2026 edition is scheduled for Sunday, October 25, with roughly 1,500 runners expected. Registration opens through asdeporte.com, priced from 450 Mexican pesos (405 pesos for Asdeporte Plus members), and cash prizes plus trophies go to the top three men and women finishers in each distance. Hydration stations are placed every 2.5 kilometers along the route. Medio Maratón Mexiquense is a separate event from the city government's newer, Day of the Dead–themed Medio Maratón Alfeñique, which also finishes near the same plaza but starts from the Municipal Palace on a different October weekend — Toluca hosts both races in the same season.
