Medio Maratón San Cristóbal de las Casas

Medio Maratón San Cristóbal de las Casas is the annual road race of this colonial highland city in Chiapas, organized by the H. Ayuntamiento de San Cristóbal de las Casas (municipal government) and run in partnership with the ticketing platform Deporte al Límite. The course starts and finishes at Parque Central (Plaza 31 de Marzo) on Calle Diego de Mazariegos, sending runners past the cobblestone streets and colonial-era buildings of the historic center. San Cristóbal sits at roughly 2,200 meters (about 7,200 feet) of elevation, so the thin mountain air is a bigger factor for most runners than the course's rolling terrain, and mornings are cool even though the race falls in Mexico's dry season. Alongside the half marathon, the event offers 10K and 5K distances plus youth and children's categories, all starting together at 7:00 AM with a 4-hour cutoff for the 21K. The race has run every year since its debut, most recently as the 13th edition on March 1, 2026, with a field capped at 2,500 runners across all distances, entries from other Mexican states and abroad, and a combined prize purse of more than 100,000 Mexican pesos for the top men's and women's finishers. Editions have consistently landed on the first Sunday of March (March 6, 2022; March 2, 2025; March 1, 2026), so the 14th edition is projected for Sunday, March 7, 2027; the municipal government has not yet published the official convocatoria or opened registration for that date. Registration for past editions has run through Deporte al Límite (deporteallimite.com), with in-person kit pickup requiring official identification and a signed waiver.
