The Medio Maratón Uruapan is the annual half marathon of Uruapan, the highland coffee- and avocado-growing city in the Mexican state of Michoacán, run through the city's colonial-era historic center under the slogan "La Fuerza de tus Raíces" ("The Strength of Your Roots"). Organized by 21KU - Medio Maratón Uruapan AC, authorized by the Uruapan city government for its 2024-2027 term, the event pairs a 21.0975 km (13.1 mi) half marathon with a shorter 7K option, both starting on Portal Mercado street at the García Ortiz alley in the historic center. The race has run every year on the last Sunday of May in recent editions: its 5th edition took place May 28, 2023, and its 8th edition ran May 31, 2026, drawing 705 half-marathon starters (690 finishers) and 306 starters in the 7K (302 finishers). Following that annual, last-Sunday-of-May cadence, the 9th edition is projected for Sunday, May 30, 2027. The organizer has not yet published the exact 2027 date, registration window, or pricing; expect an announcement on the usual platforms (Compite.mx, Meta Deportiva). In the most recent (8th) edition, the half marathon carried a capacity of 750 runners split into six categories by age (Absolute, Libre A, Libre B, Master, Veterano A, Veterano B) with a minimum age of 18, while the 7K carried a capacity of 350 runners open from age 12; entry followed a presale/regular pricing structure (500 MXN presale, 600 MXN regular, both distances). Kit pickup is held the Saturday before race day at the event's EXPO 21KU.
