The Lowdown

Morat-Fribourg is a 17.17 km point-to-point road race from Morat (Murten) to Fribourg in Switzerland, commemorating the Swiss Confederates' 1476 victory over Charles the Bold at the Battle of Morat. Run since 1933, the course starts on the Hauptgasse in Morat (453 m) and climbs +388 m over the Agy plateau to finish at Place Georges-Python in Fribourg (615 m). The 92nd edition takes place on October 4, 2026, as the centerpiece of a weekend that also includes the Courtepin-Fribourg 9.65 km race, a Trail Moitié-Moitié, walking categories, and youth and corporate events on the preceding Friday and Saturday. The 2026 main race sold out with 16,770 entrants, and organizers expect roughly 45,000 spectators along the route. Minimum age for the 17.17 km race is 16. Registration runs CHF 56-72 depending on when you sign up, and closes September 27, 2026, subject to availability.

Eligibility: Minimum age 16 for the 17.17 km running and walking race (14 for the 9.65 km Courtepin-Fribourg)
Required Documents: Race bib (dossard) picked up in advance; foreign-resident participants must collect it on-site
Photo ID or bib to claim any prize
Cancellation & Refund Policy: Entry is personal, final and non-refundable, and cannot be transferred to another runner or deferred to a later edition
Fee is refunded only for injury or illness with a medical certificate, if optional cancellation insurance was purchased at registration
