The Lowdown

The Mystic Half Marathon is one of the Hartford Marathon Foundation's signature spring races, run each May through the coastal village of Mystic, Connecticut. The USATF-certified 13.1-mile course starts at Olde Mistick Village, passes the tall ships at Mystic Seaport, crosses the historic Mystic River bascule drawbridge, and follows the waterfront along River Road before turning inland through New England stone walls and rolling hills over the back half. The route finishes in front of Mystic Aquarium, alongside a 6.2-mile 10K that shares the same start and finish. Hartford HealthCare has been the race's title sponsor since 2020. First held in 2015, the race has become one of the region's most popular spring road races and now regularly sells out months ahead of race day; for the 2026 edition, the Hartford Marathon Foundation expanded its charity partner program to five local organizations to help meet demand and cover the event's growing volunteer needs. Finishers receive a technical shirt and a custom finisher medal, and a virtual option lets participants cover the distance anywhere over race weekend. The 2026 race, held May 17 with more than 1,000 half marathon finishers, has already taken place; the next edition is expected around the third Sunday of May 2027, with registration opening in the months beforehand.
