Prato Half Marathon
The Lowdown
Prato Half Marathon (Maratonina Città di Prato) is Tuscany's FIDAL Bronze Label half marathon and the flagship running event on Prato's sports calendar, held each spring in the historic center of this textile city about 20 km northwest of Florence. The flat, fast 21.097 km course starts on Viale Piave and finishes with a descent-ascent toward the medieval Castello dell'Imperatore, also passing Piazza delle Carceri along the way. The 2026 edition, the 36th, doubled as the Tuscan regional half marathon championship and drew roughly 1,300 competitive finishers plus more than 4,500 total participants across a race weekend that also includes a non-competitive Prato Family Run and a kids' fun run. The event is organized by ASD Prato Promozione with UISP, CSI, and CONI support, and is a distinct event from the Estra Firenze Marathon in nearby Florence - different city, organizer, distance, and date. Registration for the next edition is expected to open in early 2027 with the same graduated early-bird pricing structure used in prior years.
