Regensburg Marathon
The Lowdown
The Regensburg Marathon has been Bavaria's showcase running event since 1990, drawing thousands of runners each spring to a course that loops twice through Regensburg's UNESCO World Heritage old town. The flat, fast route follows the Danube riverside and threads past the medieval Steinerne Brucke (Stone Bridge), Regensburg Cathedral, and the historic Ostentor gate before finishing back at the Infineon parking-lot start area near the Westbad. Alongside the full marathon (two half-marathon laps), the event offers a three-quarter marathon, a half marathon, and a quarter marathon, plus Nordic walking, drawing a combined field of roughly 5,000 to 6,000 participants. Traditionally held on the weekend after Ascension Day, the 35th Regensburg Marathon is scheduled for May 9, 2027, organized by LLC Marathon Regensburg e.V. Runners are supported by aid stations, pacers, a shuttle service, live music along the route, and a finisher's medal with a pasta-party voucher. Online registration for the 2027 edition runs through Datasport, with entry fees to be released closer to race day.
