Sarajevo Half Marathon
The Lowdown
The Sarajevo Half Marathon is an AIMS- and IAAF-certified 21,097-meter road race through the Bosnian capital, organized by NGO Marathon Sarajevo and the Sarajevo Running Club. Runners start and finish at Marijin Dvor on Zmaja od Bosne Street, tracing a fast, flat route through a city where Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian, and modern influences meet. Seven refreshment stations line the course, at kilometers 4.1, 7.0, 9.0, 10.7, 14.8, 17.6, and 19.6, and the race carries a 3-hour time limit. The event runs alongside a 10K and a 5K on the same morning, and is currently title-sponsored by Persil, with Powerade, BH Telecom, and Sport Vision among the supporting partners. Now in its seventh edition, the race has grown into one of the largest running gatherings in Bosnia and Herzegovina, drawing both local club runners and an increasing number of international visitors to the city.
