Semi-Marathon de Nîmes
The Lowdown
The Semi-Marathon de Nîmes is an annual road half marathon through the Roman city of Nîmes in the Occitanie region of southern France, organized by the Macadam Club Nîmois since the early 1990s (evolving out of the earlier '20 km de Nîmes' and 'Tour des Boulevards' events). Held every year on May 1st, France's Fête du Travail public holiday, the race is a French Athletics Federation (FFA) championship-qualifying event that also counts toward the departmental championship. Runners start at the Square du 11 Novembre 1918 and finish on the Boulevard de la Libération, tracing a flat urban loop past Nîmes landmarks including the Roman Arènes de Nîmes amphitheater and the Maison Carrée temple, through historic districts, quiet residential streets, and green spaces. The event also offers 10K and 5.1K options alongside the half marathon, plus a duo relay format and handisport (wheelchair/adaptive) categories, drawing a strong regional field for the holiday weekend. The 2026 edition, the 31st running, sold out its half marathon, 10K, and 5.1K fields well ahead of race day, and the next edition — the 32nd — is expected to return on its traditional May 1st date.
