The Lowdown

The Stadtlauf St. Gallen is the flagship running event of Eastern Switzerland's city of St. Gallen, held every September in the historic old town. The 10 km Speed Run and Fun Run cover four 2.5 km loops through the Roter Platz, Gallusplatz, Klosterhof, and Bärenplatz, starting and finishing at the Vadian Denkmal near Marktplatz/Bohl. The event also offers a 5 km Short Run, a 2.5 km Einsteigerlauf for beginners, combined 15 km and 25 km multi-race packages, Nordic Walking, and free Kids Run and Family Run categories for children. The 2026 edition drew a record 2,700+ runners and introduced the Muted Run, a 5 km headphone run led by DJs on bicycles, while raising CHF 5,000 for NetzwerkSport through the Migros-backed 'Laufend Gutes tun' charity program. The next edition is set for September 12, 2027.

Eligibility: Kids Run age groups are birth-year based (2013 and younger); the 10K/5K/15K/25K adult categories carry a minimum age around 16, with youth discounts under 18

01: Loop-based old-town course: races are built from repeated 2.5 km (Einsteigerlauf) and 2.3 km/500 m (Nordic Walking) laps rather than a single point-to-point route.
02: 15 km and 25 km entries are combined multi-race packages run on the same bib across separate starts, not single continuous distances.
03: Nordic Walking (5 km) is also offered alongside the running categories.
04: Entry fees increase in tiers as the event approaches; prices shown are the mid-cycle (2026 edition) tier, as the organizer has not yet published 2027 pricing.
