Strasalerno Half Marathon
The Lowdown
The Strasalerno Half Marathon is a FIDAL-certified 21.097 km road race held every October in Salerno, on Italy's Campania coast, organized by ASD Atletica Vis Nova under the patronage of the Comune di Salerno. The 2026 edition, its XXXI (31st), takes place on October 25 and doubles as the 2026 ASI National Half Marathon Championship for FIDAL/ASI and Runcard/ASI registered athletes. The course is a flat, single-loop circuit starting and finishing on the Lungomare Tafuri near the Piscina Vitale sports complex: roughly half the route follows Salerno's seafront promenade and the other half winds through the historic city center, making it a fast, PR-friendly layout with a 3-hour time limit. On the official 2026 FIDAL regulation the event is titled 'Strasalerno Garofalo' after its title sponsor, the Gragnano-based pasta maker Garofalo, though it is listed simply as Strasalerno or Strasalerno Half Marathon across ENDU, Podistiche, and other race directories. Alongside the half marathon, race weekend includes a competitive 9.9 km race capped at 300 bibs on the FIDAL Campania regional calendar, a non-competitive 9.9 km fun run, and a 2 km family run, all starting near the Piscina Vitale. Entry includes a t-shirt, timing chip, medical assistance with ambulance coverage, water stations every 5 km, a finisher medal, and free parking near the start/finish area.

The official 2026 FIDAL regulation names the event 'Strasalerno Garofalo' after title sponsor Garofalo, a Gragnano (Campania) pasta maker; it is listed simply as 'Strasalerno' or 'Strasalerno Half Marathon' across ENDU, Podistiche, Finishers, and other independent race directories, so the roster uses the neutral common name.
Doubles as the 2026 ASI National Half Marathon Championship (Campionato Nazionale ASI di Maratonina) for FIDAL/ASI and Runcard/ASI registered athletes, with separate ASI title/medal awards.
The event dates back to 1993; the 2026 running is the XXXI (31st) edition.
Timing and results are handled by icron via disposable chip; results are published on the timing company's site after the race.
