The Lowdown

Tigullio Run is an annual 10K road race on Italy's Ligurian coast, run each year on November 1 between the towns of Lavagna and Chiavari in the Tigullio Gulf. Organized by the local running club I Maratoneti del Tigullio with the backing of four municipalities - Lavagna, Chiavari, Cogorno, and Carasco - the race reached its fifth edition in 2026. The point-to-point course starts in Lavagna on Corso Genova near Piazza Europa, follows the left bank of the Entella river to the Ponte Blu (Blue Bridge) in Carasco, crosses to the right bank through San Salvatore di Cogorno, and finishes along the Chiavari seafront on Corso Colombo. The route is flat and scenic, tracing the river and coastline of the Tigullio Gulf between the two historic port towns. The event offers a FIDAL-sanctioned competitive 10K, open to runners holding a FIDAL, World Athletics, or RunCard membership, alongside a non-competitive race and a family run open to all ages and abilities. Recent editions have drawn more than 400 total finishers across both formats. According to the City of Chiavari's official event listing, entry is free. Tigullio Run is a distinct event from the nearby Portofino Marathon, held about 5 km away on the same gulf; the two races have separate organizers, dates, and courses.
