El Maratón de Bruselas (Brussels Marathon), disputado durante dos décadas como Brussels Airport Marathon & Half Marathon, fue la mayor carrera de ruta de otoño de Bélgica hasta que la Ciudad de Bruselas retiró su apoyo. La vigésima y última edición se celebró el domingo 2 de noviembre de 2025, con salida en la Place De Brouckère y meta en la Place des Palais, frente al Palacio Real; entre maratón, medio maratón, 7K y carrera infantil reunió a unos 20.000 participantes durante el fin de semana, menos de 3.000 de ellos en los 42,195 km completos. El organizador Golazo dijo entonces que esperaba mantener viva una maratón en Bruselas con un trazado que evitara el término municipal, pero nunca se anunció una edición de 2026. En agosto de 2026 la web oficial sigue siendo una página provisional ‘en construcción’ cuya referencia más reciente es la fecha de noviembre de 2025: no hay inscripción, ni trazado, ni fecha confirmada. En diciembre de 2025 la Ciudad confirmó el relevo: la Green Ten Miles, una carrera de 16,1 km por los parques del norte de Bruselas, organizada por la propia Ciudad y prevista para octubre de 2027. Los portales que todavía anuncian un ‘Brussels Airport Marathon’ el 25 de octubre de 2026 reciclan datos caducados: esa edición no existe. Quien busque una maratón belga de otoño puede mirar a Amberes o Gante; quien quiera correr en la capital tiene los 20 km de Bruselas cada mayo.

City confirms a replacement race: the Green Ten Miles, 16.1 km, from October 2027
Dec 21, 2025The City of Brussels confirmed that the marathon and half marathon are finished after 40 years, and that a new City-organised 16.1 km race, the Green Ten Miles, will run through the parks of northern Brussels (Laeken, Jette) with an indicative first edition in October 2027. A proposal to merge the marathon into the existing 20 km de Bruxelles in May was rejected. City of Brussels pulls the plug: no marathon on its territory from 2026
Nov 3, 2025One day after the 2025 race, mayor Philippe Close and sports alderman Florence Frelinx announced the City would stop hosting the marathon from 2026, saying the road closures, policing and cleaning were too costly for a marathon field of fewer than 3,000 runners. Despite the 2025 name, the race never ran at Brussels Airport - 'Brussels Airport' was the title sponsor. Late editions were city-centre races, starting and finishing in central Brussels.
The City of Brussels plans a replacement event, the Green Ten Miles (16.1 km) through the parks of northern Brussels, indicatively from October 2027.
Runners looking for a Belgian autumn marathon can consider Antwerp or Ghent; the 20 km de Bruxelles, held each May, remains the capital's large-field road race.
